You've been in a car accident....now what?
We can't stress enough that dealing with an accident or insurance claim can be one of the most obnoxious things a person can do with their time, and at Scotty's Body Shop we get that! Here is a brief list of the top questions we hear the most of, and that you may be wondering yourself.
1. CAN I FIX MY CAR ANYWHERE I WANT, OR DO I HAVE TO GO WHERE THE INSURANCE COMPANY SAYS?
A. The state of Iowa protects our rights as citizens to have our vehicle repaired at ANY repair facility of our choosing. Unfortunately there is a lot of confusion on this one, you may be told by an agent or adjuster that you HAVE to go to a certain place, and its simply not true. You can rest assured that it is entirely up to you where you would like to have your vehicle repaired, and we would love the opportunity to earn your trust.
2. CAN YOU FIX MY CAR AS WELL AS THE DEALER / CAN YOU FIX ALL MAKES OR JUST DOMESTIC CARS?
A. We understand that your automobile is the second largest investment a person will typically make, which is why Scotty's Body Shop hires only the most talented and caring technicians that can be found. Our family environment breeds accountability and it is our core value to provide timely quality repairs to each of our customers. We ensure this through ongoing education and hands on cross training for all staff members. Scotty's utilizes the most up to date estimating software to provide us with the proper technical info and specifications for your particular vehicle. Lastly we strictly utilize the highest quality repair materials and methods, as well as up to date environmentally friendly refinish products and technology to ensure not only perfect color but the smallest possible carbon footprint.
3. WHY IS THE INSURANCE CO. ESTIMATE DIFFERENT? WILL YOU CHARGE ME THE DIFFERENCE?
A. It is not uncommon for an insurance estimate to be considerably different than an estimate written by a body shop. There are a multitude of reasons for this, mainly due to estimates written before a thorough tear down of the car has been performed. Insurance companies cannot see the full extent of damages due to an accident, so their initial estimate can reflect quite differently than of the final repair costs. It is the responsibility of the insurance company to pay for additional hidden damage after repairs begin not the customers. This additional cost is called a supplement, and it is very common. Scotty's has procedures in place to ensure that ALL damage will be documented and billed to the responsible insurance co.
4. DO YOU WARRANTY YOUR WORK?
A. It has been said that the greatest warrantee in the world is the one you'll never have to use...and we agree. We strive to deliver excellent repairs to your vehicle backed up by a multi-point safety inspection, all of these processes are backed up by a LIFETIME WARRANTY.
5. DO MY REPAIRS VOID MY FACTORY WARRANTY?
A. ABSOLUTELY NOT! All vehicle manufacturers have detailed Repair Procedures and Scotty's subscribes to ongoing Manufacturer Data Specifications to ensure that each repair is done to factory finish. We take a great deal of pride in our repairs, safety and longevity is our utmost importance.
